Project Description

The goal of this project is to develop a merged environment for simulation and analysis (MESA) at the National Energy Technology Laboratory's (NETL) hybrid fuel cell turbine laboratory. The MESA sensor lab developed as a component of this research will provide a development platform for investigating (1) advanced sensor control strategies; (2) testing and development of sensor hardware; (3) various modeling in the loop algorithms; and (4) other advanced computational algorithms for improved plant performance using sensors, real-time models, and complex systems tools.

Project Benefits

This project is focused on developing a merged environment for simulation and analysis. This technology will facilitate advanced control strategies using embedded intelligence at the sensor and component level to make faster decisions based on available local information. The expected impact of this technology is lower operating costs, higher efficiencies, and lower emissions that meet the high regulatory standards for advanced power plants that utilize fossil fuels.
