The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) serves the United States in a critical capacity, providing innovative solutions and cutting-edge research to power your computer, keep the lights on in your home and provide businesses, industries, hospitals and schools with abundant and affordable electricity.

Although our work impacts nearly every aspect of American life, NETL isn’t exactly a household name. That’s why we invite you to take a few minutes and watch a short video that explains what we do and our commitment to enhancing the nation’s energy foundation while protecting the environment for future generation.

For more than 100 years, NETL, one of 17 U.S. Department of Energy national labs, has helped to develop the energy that powers the nation. The work we do is taking on heightened significance as we add more renewable, intermittent energy sources to the grid to combat climate change while pioneering new technologies to expand domestic energy production and find new and cleaner uses for fossil fuels.

We are eager to share our story and the growing list of accomplishments made by NETL researchers, scientists, engineers and other talented individuals as they collaborate with top universities and industry experts to meet the country’s energy challenges.

Watch for more “Get to Know NETL” videos as we highlight the important work taking place at our facilities in Albany, Oregon; Morgantown, West Virginia; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
