Pittsburgh MOU Publications

NETL and its partners are continuously making progress towards building and restructuring the 9 energy districts of the City of Pittsburgh MOU, conducting extensive research for clean energy solutions, and providing support for other projects that utilize the clean, efficient use of fossil energy and advance Pittsburgh into being a “City of the Future”. SOFC Prototype
The 200 kW solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) prototype was craned into place at NRG Energy Center in late July 2018. The prototype is expected to start running in mid-August, with a goal to run for at least 5,000 hours to quantify long-term degradation as well as system availably and reliability.
Duquesne University
Duquesne University’s Cogeneration Plant’s reduces greenhouse gas emissions by burning clean, natural gas that effectively powers more than three-quarters of Duquesne University’s campus.
Hazelwood Green
Hazelwood Green, a mixed-use development in Hazelwood on a 178-acre former steel mill riverfront that will operate almost exclusively on renewable-based distributed energy.
