The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Fossil Energy & Carbon Management is requesting public input to inform DOE’s implementation of the Carbon Ore, Rare Earths and Critical Minerals (CORE-CM) Initiative.

The goal of the FECM program is to seek input from industry members, investors, developers, academia, research laboratories, government agencies, tribal governments, potentially impacted communities and other stakeholders to advance the use of unconventional and secondary feedstocks to produce rare earth elements (REEs), critical materials (CMs) and novel high-value, nonfuel carbon-based products (CBP), which are needed to ensure U.S. energy, economic and national security. This RFI supports the Carbon Ore, Rare Earth, and Critical Minerals (CORE-CM) Initiative.

Information collected from this RFI may be used by DOE for planning purposes, which could include developing future Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOA), Broad Agency Announcements, or other solicitations related to implementation of the FECM Program.

This is solely a request for information and not a funding opportunity. DOE is not accepting applications for funding.
