NETL Celebrates Public Service Recognition Week
Public Service Recognition Week

Director’s Corner

by Brian Anderson, Ph.D.

The first full week of May each year is Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW), a time to recognize the nation’s dedicated public servants, including the wide-ranging professionals and energy researchers working together at NETL to help meet the Biden Administration’s goals of a net-zero carbon economy by 2050.

Innovations become reality at NETL, and as the only government-owned and government-operated national laboratory, we have unique resources and enormous responsibilities to the nation as we continue to battle climate change and ensure an environmentally sustainable energy future.

For example, we’ve been entrusted with executing provisions of President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act, which are once-in-a lifetime investments that will help to deliver more clean energy, create good-paying jobs and lower energy costs for American families and workers.

This year, to mark PSRW, I’d like to share what it means to serve at NETL. Please take a moment to watch the video below, in which I talk about the values of our staff and highlight how NETL serves the nation through federal research.

NETL is a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory that drives innovation and delivers technological solutions for an environmentally sustainable and prosperous energy future. By leveraging its world-class talent and research facilities, NETL is ensuring affordable, abundant and reliable energy that drives a robust economy and national security, while developing technologies to manage carbon across the full life cycle, enabling environmental sustainability for all Americans.
