This Request for Information seeks public input to help inform DOE’s implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), also commonly known as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL), specifically the BIL sections relevant to this Request for Information, which are 40207(e), 40207(f), and 40208. The purpose of these three provisions is to ensure that the United States has viable domestic manufacturing and recycling capability to support and sustain a domestic battery supply chain. By execution of these efforts, the programs support the Biden Administration’s goal of achieving a carbon-free electric grid by 2035 and a net zero emissions economy by 2050.
