NETL Deputy Director Randall Gentry, Ph.D., and NETL researcher Grant Bromhal, Ph.D., will represent the Laboratory at the 4th Annual Partnership Summit hosted by the University of North Dakota Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC) and the EERC Foundation May 20 and 21 in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

NETL’s Circe Verba, Ph.D., a research geologist and experienced science communicator, will be a featured presenter at the Portland ScienceFEST 2019 Saturday, May 11 at the University of Oregon Portland. Portland ScienceFEST 2019 is a celebration of science and technology offering interactive tracks that address general science, technology, and Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) for Kids. Each track will feature interactive programming.

ExxonMobil said today it will invest up to $100 million over 10 years to research and develop advanced lower-emissions technologies with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory and National Energy Technology Laboratory. The agreement – among the largest between the department’s laboratories and the private sector – will support research and collaboration into ways to bring biofuels and carbon capture and storage to commercial scale across the transportation, power generation and industrial sectors.

Key members of a U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee with jurisdiction over federal energy research, development, and demonstration projects toured NETL in Pittsburgh Friday and met with the Laboratory’s leaders to learn more about significant energy research projects currently underway.

NETL experts on geo-data science and oil and natural gas technology shared their technical insight with more than 250 peers from around the world at this week’s 4th annual Machine Learning in Oil & Gas conference. NETL Oil & Gas Technology Manager Jared Ciferno and Research Geo-Data Scientist Kelly Rose were among the featured speakers at the event, organized by the Energy Conference Network and held April 17-18 in Houston.

U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Assistant Secretary for the Office of Cybersecurity, Energy Security, and Emergency Response (CESER) Karen S. Evans visited NETL in Morgantown Thursday, April 11 to meet with laboratory leadership and discuss ongoing DOE efforts aimed at improving cybersecurity. The visit was a return to Morgantown for Evans. She earned an MBA and a BA in chemistry from West Virginia University.
