Project Description

NRAP is focused on developing a science-based methodology for quantifying risk profiles for various risk proxies. These profiles describe the time-dependent probability that key physical/chemical indicators (proxies) will cross a defined threshold value. These indicators provide quantitative information of on site behavior from which potential consequence(s) (e.g., consequence to human health, environmental health, and damage to property) can be subsequently assessed.

Project Benefits

This project will develop and apply a system-level methodology to support site-specific risk evaluations for the risk analysis and decision making framework by using integrated assessment models consisting of reduced order models based on detailed physical and chemical models with laboratory and field data. The resulting NRAP computational tools will deliver the necessary methodologies and models needed to quantify long-term liabilities and identify the strategic monitoring protocols required to make a business case for long-term geologic storage of CO2.
