Shelter-in-Place or Evacuation
A release of hazardous materials from an NETL site, may require a shelter-in-place or evacuation instructions.
Shelter-in-place means that you should stay in your home, shut all the windows and doors, and shut off any fans that bring air in from the outside. You should also block or seal openings around doors or windows. This order would come from county emergency management and would be terminated by county emergency management.
Evacuation means that you should leave your home as quickly as possible and get out of the immediate area. This order would come from county emergency management and would be terminated by county emergency management.
NETL emergency response teams will contact county emergency response officials to report the incident and recommend an action.
