Gasification Systems - Closely Aligned Programs
Fundamental Research

Fundamental research is the stage at which promising ideas begin to be tested. Generally, this work is done at small scale in labs or, as development continues, at the slightly larger bench scale. Once a concept is proven at small or bench scale, promising technologies are passed on to a program in Applied Research for further scale-up. Funding sources for fundamental research comes from the Advanced Research program, Applied Research programs, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, University Coal Research (UCR) Program, Historically Black Colleges and University and Other Minority Institutions (HBCU/OMI) Program, and other programs.
