Clean Coal Demonstrations
Seeking to demonstrate and deploy advanced clean coal technologies that meet strict environmental standards.
Comprehensive information on the Department of Energy's major coal demonstration programs can be found on this Clean Coal Technology Compendium website. Information on the Compendium is organized by program:

specific program and project information.
All three programs are government/industry partnerships with the DOE providing up to 50% of the project funds. The CCPI was established in 2001 to implement the President's National Energy Policy recommendation to increase investment in clean coal technology. This program addresses the national challenge of ensuring the reliability of the U.S electric supply while simultaneously protecting the environment. The goal is to accelerate commercial deployment of advanced technologies to ensure that the United States has clean, reliable, and affordable electricity.
The PPII was established in 2000 by Congress to provide for the commercial-scale demonstration of technologies to assure the reliability of the nation's energy supply from existing and new electric generating facilities.
The CCTDP was the first of the major coal demonstration programs, and since 1986 has been advancing DOE's mission to foster a secure and reliable energy system that is environmentally and economically sustainable.
The clean coal demonstration programs are managed by the National Energy Technology Laboratory, the largest fossil energy research organization in the U.S. We welcome and value your questions, comments and suggestions for improving this site.
