The National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) has a 100-year history of partnering with academia and industry to solve the nation's energy issues by developing and commercializing new technologies.
Programs conducted by NETL Office of Research and Development (ORD) coordinate the expertise and talents of hundreds of public-and private-sector scientists, engineers, technicians, and other professionals.
To strengthen its efforts and build on NETL's long-standing partnerships, ORD established the NETL-Regional University Alliance (RUA) in 2010 with the mission of accelerating development and deployment of energy and environmental technologies to ensure a robust energy future.
NETL-RUA is a unique partnership of academic, industry, and federal researchers with a diverse and exciting portfolio of answers to America's energy questions. The Alliance combines NETL's fossil energy expertise in research, development, and demonstration with the diverse capabilities of industry member URS Corporation and five nationally recognized research universities: Carnegie Mellon University, the Pennsylvania State University, the University of Pittsburgh, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and West Virginia University. The efforts of our individual partners and our collaboration as a whole are strengthened through shared ideas, strategies, talents, and facilities.
