- GTI signed a subcontract with SRI. SRI has started working on the fabrication of the polybenzimidazole (PBI) membrane substrates based on GTI-supplied specifications and general requirements for the PBI substrate. SRI plans to use design of experiment protocol to study the variables affecting the properties of the substrate and deliver to GTI samples for testing.
- GTI has completed construction of a high temperature H2 membrane permeation test system and is performing leak and quality checks on the system. This system is capable of testing at temperatures up to 350 °C and pressures up to 1,000 psig.
- GTI has completed revamping an existing co-current-contactor, sulfur removal test system and initiated testing for low-level sulfur removal. Tests will be conducted to study the extent of H2S removal from inlet gases containing ~30-500 ppmv of H2S, and to identify operating conditions that would lead to a H2S level of less than 4 ppmv in the reactor exit gas. This test system is capable of operating at pressure from ~100-400 psig with a nominal inlet feed gas temperature of ~120 °C and solvent/feed gas mass ratios from ~0.5-3.0.
