High-Pressure Turbulent Flame Speeds and Chemical Kinetics of Syngas Blends with and without Impurities
Performer: Texas Engineering Experiment Station
Project No: FE0011778
New high-pressure, turbulent flame speed bomb test facility. A twin-chamber configuration will be used. The inner chamber is filled with the test mixture and flame propagation is recorded using high-speed schlieren photography. A slight pressure increase from the combustion is sufficient to activate the pressure-relief vent holes (closed normally) in the inner chamber. The burned gas expands into the inert gas in the outer chamber and the flame is quenched. High-pressure experiments (up to 20 atm.) can be safely conducted without any pressure rise.
High-temperature, high-pressure laminar flame speed vessel.
