Synopsis: A factsheet that reviews two natural cases of geologic carbon dioxide accumulation in California. Lake Nyos and Mammoth Mountain are sites at which carbon dioxide is released as geologic activity disturbs the region. These sites are natural models to demonstrate the concerns with stability and environmental impacts of large-scale CO2 release from future engineered carbon geosequestration locations.
