Instructions

  • The program begins in the settings mode. Enter the parameters for the round in the boxes provided.

  • When ready to start a new round, the following options are available:

    • Begin New Round: Opens a timer based on the settings in the New Round Settings Box.
    • Resume Round: Opens a timer with a shorter length. This is useful in case you accidentally quit a round before you were ready. Bonus and Toss Up lengths will be read from the New Round settings boxes.
    • Begin Intermission: Opens a timer for an intermission between rounds. Timing of questions will be disabled in Intermission mode.

  • The user interface for the timer window is simple:

The Web Edition of Science Bowl Timer does not support the use of keyboard shortcuts. If you’d like that functionality, you can use the Downloadable version

    • The Bonus and Toss Up buttons: used to initiate a new timer for a specific question. Clicking one of these buttons while a question is in progress will clear that question timer.
    • The Pause button: used to suspend a round in progress or resume a round that has been suspended. An indicator will appear to let you know whether a round is paused. Note that the Bonus and Toss Up buttons are disabled while the timer is paused.
    • The Settings button: ends the current round immediately and returns to the settings display. The time remaining in the current round (if any) will be saved in the "Resume Length" setting, in case you make a mistake.
